Straub Environmental Learning Center is holding a lecture titled “Dirt: The Erosion of Civilizations” at 7 PM, on February 24, in the Loucks Auditorium of the Salem Public Library, located at 555 Liberty Street SE, Salem. This lecture is free. Professor David Montgomery of the Earth and Space Sciences program at the University of Washington will speak about the erosion of our soil, and how this doomed ancient civilizations. You can attend and write a summary of your experience for extra credit for ES 105, winter 2011 term, for Brown. Turn in a typed 1‐2 page summary, with the program stapled to the page, by 2 PM Monday February 28, or Tuesday March 1 (your class day) to get up to 5 points extra credit.
