Happy Holidays from the Women's Giving Circle of North Central Florida Dear Women's Giving Circle Members, It has been an ex citing y ear of giv ing and thanksgiv ing! The Faces of Giv ing ev ent was the perfect celebration of what the Women's Giv ing Circle means. I would like to inv ite y ou one last time to v iew the artwork featured at the Faces of Giv ing ev ent and join us for a Membership Luncheon on January 4th 201 3, as we look forward to the new y ear and the 201 3 Grant pool. Look out for inv itations soon! This is a great time to renew y our membership as well. Y ou may hav e receiv ed a letter recently with this information. Please feel free to contact the office if y ou hav e questions regarding y our membership. As y ou know y ou can renew y our membership through the 31st of January 201 3. These funds will comprise the grant funding av ailable for 201 3 distribution.

Our Giv ing Circle is part of the Women's Collectiv e Giv ing Network. This is a wonderful network that connects Giv ing Circles throughout the country . Our monthly conference calls cov er many topics of help and interest. It is wonderful to hear about the successes of other Circles. On our last call the Impact 1 00 Indian Riv er/V ero Beach Circle reported their great success. They are a circle which began about the same time as ours, it now has ov er 400 members and they disburse sev eral hundred thousand dollar grants each y ear! I hope we can make that impact as well! The Faces of Giv ing ev ent reflected the impact we hav e made and the profound appreciation of the initiativ es we hav e supported. We are transforming liv es and inv esting in our community . Upcoming Events New Year's Giving Circle Meeting Friday January 4th, 201 3 What? Women's Giv ing Circle meeting Where? Doris Bardon Community Cultural Center When? 1 1 :00 am - 1 2:00 pm

The members of the Giv ing Circle are inv ited to the Doris for a social surrounded by the art from their v ery own Faces of Giv ing ex hibit. This will also be a working meeting where members will be able to ex press their thoughts on the Giv ing Circle mov ing forward with the 201 3 y ear and Grant Pool. Soup and Salad w ill be available for guests at $1 0.00 per person. Grant Pool Donations Now Through January 31 st, 201 3

Don't forget! We are collecting the membership donations now through January 31 st. If y ou would like this donation to be a part of y our tax es for 201 2, send it in by y ear's end. A gain, y ou can send y our check to the Community Foundation, at the address listed abov e. Y ou may also pay by credit card online through the Community Foundation's website here.

This week the Wom en's Giv ing Circle sent a letter to the editor at the Gainesv ille Sun about the inaugural Faces of Giv ing. It discussed what the ev ent was about as well as a little history of the Giv ing Circle. If y ou weren't able to pick up last Monday 's newspaper, here is a link where y ou can read the letter.

Focus Grants In a surv ey sent to membership during early October, we asked where y ou would felt the Focus Grant money should be awarded nex t y ear. It seems most women agree that Incom e has the greatest importance and need in the community . "Income -- Indicators of success include: increase in number and percent of high school

graduates that go directly to college; increased employ ment rate one y ear after graduation from Professional A cademy Magnet programs; decreased number and percent of people who pay 40% or more of income for housing;decreased number of homeless adults and children; increased rate of eligible residents receiv ing SNA P/food stamps." The nex t runner up for the Focus Grants was Safety . "Safety -- Indicators of success include: decreased rates of child abuse and neglect; decreased rates of domestic v iolence; decreased rates of crimes against people and property ." During early 201 3 members will be able to v ote on all of the grants including Focus Grants, as to where the donation pool will be awarded.
