One morning I swam pretty far out—too far, it turned out. ___________________________, I felt like I was going against the current. As hard as I swam, I never got any closer to the shore. Then it hit me—I was stuck in a riptide that was trying to pull me far out to sea. ___________________________, I started to panic. Then I remembered that you have to swim parallel to the shore to get out of a riptide. Though I was getting tired, I did just that. It was scary, because I could still feel myself being pulled away from the shore. ___________________________, I could feel the current lessening in strength.
