VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is a semi-autonomous body established by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics Act, 1998, to promote the production of reliable official statistics and ensure the development and maintenance of the National Statistical System (NSS). The mandate of the Bureau is the production, coordination and dissemination of official statistics. The Bureau intends to conduct the Annual Agricultural Survey 2016/17. It is therefore seeking to recruit highly competent, motivated, results oriented, dynamic, team players of good character and high integrity to lead the business in the various positions indicated below: DIRECTORATE AGRICULTURE AND ENVIRONMENT STATISTICS Job Title

KEY RESULT AREAS: 1. Locate the structures and households in the sample which are assigned to him/her and complete the Household Questionnaire; 2. Interview all eligible members in the households assigned to him/her, using the Questionnaire; 3. Ensure that all questionnaires are filled accurately 1

Responsible for the safety of all survey materials allocated Make the necessary preparation for the fieldwork Administer the respective questionnaire to all selected households Edit and cross check errors in the collected data Write field reports Be responsible for all survey materials allocated Submit duly completed questionnaires to the relevant authority Should be physically fit to walk long distances

MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS 

A minimum of Uganda Advanced Certificate Education with credit in math and English at O’level.



Must be fluent, both written and oral, in at least one of these local languages: Ateso, Luganda, Lugbara, Luo, Ngakarimojong, Runyankole – Rukiga, Runyoro – Rutoro, Lusoga, Lumasaaba;



Should have participated in agricultural and/or socio-economic survey data collection exercises for at least 2 months.



Age limit; 22years and above but not exceeding 45years’



Prior use of computers or other digital devices for data collection is an added advantage;



Evidence of maturity, friendliness and willingness to work away from home for periods of approximately 2 months’ fieldwork;

Strong numerical and analytical skills



Good inter-personal skills.

 

KEY RESULT AREAS: 1. Locate the sampled Enumeration Areas which are assigned to him/her and completing the Household Listing Form; 2. Draw a location map displaying the location of the Enumeration Area 3. Document details about the household heads 4. Collect a GPS waypoint in the correct format for each Household 2

MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Must be fluent in both Written and Oral Proficiency in at least one of these local languages: Ateso, Luganda, Lugbara, Luo, Ngakarimojong, Runyankole – Rukiga, Runyoro – Rutoro, Lusoga, Lumasaaba; A minimum of A- level certificate but with a credit in English and Mathematics at O’ level

  

At least 2 months’ demonstrated experience working as a fieldworker accumulatively in a household survey with evidence.
