Based at Carlisle, Crewe & locations in Scotland (Other locations may be considered) Starting Salary £27,864 plus Company Bonus We are currently looking to recruit Trainee Train Drivers to be based at one of our key locations. Would you like to be part of a friendly, coherent team within a company that continues to expand and grow within the Rail Freight Market? Our Train Drivers are required to be professional individuals with a high degree of enthusiasm and flexibility and have due regard for safety. The training involved with becoming a Train Driver is extremely intense and candidates will be required to show dedication in order to gain a thorough knowledge of the rail industry, specifically in rules and regulations, traction knowledge and route knowledge. Training will be carried out in Carlisle or Crewe and will last approximately 10 months. The training programme will involve a mixture of classroom and practical work. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be flexible and be able to work a variety of shift patterns, including nights. Candidates must also have the ability to work on their own as well as part of a team and make decisions based on their own initiative. As well as being an effective communicator with fast reaction skills and a high level of concentration, it is essential for railway group standard requirements, that applicants must be 21 years of age on completion of training. Candidates must also have the ability to pass the industry psychometric assessment and meet the required medical standard, including drug and alcohol testing. Applicants must possess a full UK driving licence and due to the safety critical aspect of the role, they must live within a travelling distance of approximately 45 minutes from the home depot. In return we offer an attractive salary, Company bonus, 33 days annual leave, membership of the Company Pension Scheme and access to a Healthcare Scheme. If you feel that you meet all of our requirements and are committed to a thorough and lengthy recruitment and training process, please e-mail [email protected] requesting an application pack. An application form and additional information will be emailed to you to complete and return to the HR Department. Please be aware that due to the anticipated high response, we will be unable to take telephone requests for application packs. All application forms and additional information must be received by 12 noon on 2nd April 2014. We regret that applications received after this date will not be considered. All applicants will be informed as to whether they have been shortlisted for assessment, however, we politely request that candidates are patient as this may take a number of weeks. Successful applicants will be required to undergo security clearance, including reference, nationality and identification checks. nd
