The teaching, learning and assessment course aims to enhance the teaching practices of health sciences educators to facilitate learning. This is achieved through developing their knowledge base of educational principles but more importantly supporting the integration of the concepts learned.
MORE ABOUT THE COURSE We have two modules predominantly facilitated online; module 1 focus on best evidence teaching and module 2 centres on assessment of student learning. Each of the topics in the modules are offered weekly and participants can select the topics appropriate to their teaching. The first topic ‘Being a Teacher’ is a contact session which must be attended by all registered participants. Participants receive a certificate of completion or continuing professional development (CPD) points To receive the certificate of completion or CPD points participants need to demonstrate activity online within the week they have registered through accessing the weekly activities; the readings, power points, responding to questions online, communicating with peers, creating blogs when required and participation in the online discussion when scheduled. We estimate that participants will spend 2 hours per week on the aforementioned activities.
