DIRECTORY OF PROGRAMS & SERVICES Tips for Use

Conducting a quick search. A ‘quick search’ is useful to determine the number of programs related to a specific population, outcome, resource type, and/or study design, which will help inform subsequent search strategies. The ‘quick search’ field only searches one category of interest. To perform a ‘quick search,’ type in a key word or phrase into the search bar on the home page and press ‘search.’ For a more refined and controlled search, use the ‘advanced search’ feature, which enables entry of multiple search terms in multiple categories, simultaneously.

Using advanced search. The Directory has an ‘advanced search’ feature that allows sophisticated searches by combining various search dimensions. The ‘advanced search’ mode offers choices among the search dimensions including type of program, race/ethnicity of participants, study design, outcomes, special populations, setting, and the language(s) of the program. To conduct an ‘advanced search’ of programs, click ‘advanced search’ on the home page, click on the desired search category options, and select ‘search.’ Clicking ‘reset search’ will clear all search choices.

Sorting search results. Following the search, the Directory will display a page of results. When viewing the search results, sort your results by alphabetical order by clicking on any of the column headings including: program name, study type and notes.

On the program page, there is information about the type of program; the age, gender, and race/ethnicity of participants; study design; outcomes; special populations; setting; and the language(s) of the program. The program page links to additional information about the program, including journal articles, evaluation studies, and information about how to implement or purchase the program, if available.
