Script: Girl is in her room reading, there is a knock on the door. Girl opens door to unseen Visitor, smiles, welcomes Him in. Oh, I’m so glad You are here! I feel so badly that I haven’t been able to spend much time with You lately, Christmas preparations and all. But, finally, here we are, just the two of us, together. Just in time to celebrate Your birthday! Happy Birthday, dear Friend! Come, sit here, in this comfortable chair. Wait, let me get some of that stuff off the chair. Girl dumps papers and food on the floor. That’s it! Sit right there. We have so much to get caught up on. Sorry I haven’t had time to visit You in your House lately. You know how it is, busy schedule and all. I know You understand, after all You do want what’s best for me, don’t you? Sorry I didn’t get around to talking to You last night. By the time I finally finished my Geometry homework I was gassed! I just grabbed my PJ’s, and hit the old sack. But, here we are, the whole evening to be with each other, no interruptions. Even though I really should be studying for my finals, I just thought, “no way”, I want some quality time with my Friend. So, what should we talk about? Love. Yes, that’s it! Have I told You lately how much I really do love You? Have I mentioned how much I look forward to our times together? It is really too bad that my life is such a rat race; school, job, spending times with my friends, you know how it goes. You know I would spend more time with You if I could. Maybe after school things will slow down a bit. Although next semester sounds like it will be even worse than this one. The Visitor© Copyright DramaShare® 1998

Did I tell You I was asked to be the head of the Cheerleaders for the coming year? Quite an honor! And, I just knew that You would be pleased, with one of Your people in a high profile position like this. Maybe I’ll be able to put in a good word for You now and then. You know, with the kids who never go to Your House. Not right away, I mean, nobody likes pushy Christians, don’t want to scare them off, you understand. But later, before the year is out, for sure, I’ll be bringing Your Name up quite often. Probably. Great news! I’ve decided what I want to do for a career after school! I’m going to become an airline pilot. Isn’t that far out? Great wages, good working conditions and just 20 hour weeks. And, sure, it will give me the chance to work closely with a lot of people who likely never even think about You. That was the real deciding point for me, kinda, was the opportunity to be there for You, serving You. I realize this means I won’t get to serve You overseas like I promised I’d do. That was kind of a silly promise I made, wasn’t it? Me, just a kid at the time, I’m sure You never really took that promise seriously. That’s why I knew You would have no problem with me changing my mind. I want to be in the best place where I can serve You. I knew You would want me as an airline pilot. You know, that’s one of the things I especially love about You. You want what’s best for me. You are so neat that way! I feel so good having Your approval in all I do. Nothing could keep me away from spending time with You like this. Oh, and I was going to tell You about, (phone rings), er, maybe I’d better answer that, never know, might be important. Excuse me. Picks up phone. Hello. (pause) Oh, hi, Donna, how are you? (pause) Good, good! (pause) Me? Oh, nothing much, just hangin’ out with a friend of mine. (pause) A party? Where? (pause) Oh, who’s there? (pause) You can’t be serious? Terry? At the party? No way! (pause) Oh, I’d love to but I’ve got this friend here . . . . (pause) Terry asked specifically if I was going to be at the party? You are kidding now, aren’t you? (pause) That does sound like something Terry would say, all right! (pause) Really, Donna, I would really love to come, but I can’t, my friend is . . . . (pause) You are all going where? Are you serious? I really would love to go with you. Just a minute, just hold on, OK? Holds hand over the phone, speaks to Friend: Listen, something has come up, we are going to have to do this later. I really hate to back out on our date, but You know how it is. Some of my friends, they really want me to be with them. And, I thought maybe it would be best, one of Your’s being there where many don’t even know Your Name. Anyhoo, sorry, let’s make it again really soon, OK? The Visitor© Copyright DramaShare® 1998

Talks on phone OK, Donna, I’ll be there in a flash, keep the party going til I get there! (pause) My Friend, no, He understands, no problem. Yeh, well, in a minute. Hangs up phone, turns back to Friend. Hey, listen, probably I won’t be gone that awful long. Maybe we can finish our talk when I get home, maybe, if it’s not too late. Or tomorrow night, for sure! Yeh, that might be best, tomorrow night, then. Listen, why don’t You just sit right there til I get back. Relax, enjoy! Look, here’s a magazine. (flips through a few pages) Well, maybe not this particular magazine, I can’t see You enjoying this magazine. How about this one? No, maybe not. I’ve got it, this new book I just bought, it’s all about . . . . . wait a minute, television, that’s it! (picks up remote, flips through channels) Let’s see, what’s on tonight? Maybe not that one, what about . . . . .. or maybe . .. . . . . Listen, seems like kind of a nothing night on TV. Silly me, I am sure You must be wiped! Rest. That’s what You need. You just sit right there, put Your feet up, here’s some big pillows. All right then, catch You later. Girl turns to leave, looks back Where are You going, You sit down. In the chair, right there. (pause) No, You can not come with me. My friends aren't the type, er, that is, You wouldn’t enjoy it at all. See You later then . . . . . I said, You sit! I do not want You to come with me. I mean, I want You, but the time has to be right, understood? And this is simply not the proper time. Stay! What gives with You? I take time out for You, invite You in, then You just try to take over my life! I will tell You when! So, back off! I have had it with You! Now then, back there in the corner. Girl holds Visitors hands up, one at a time, then mimes driving nails into His hands, have sound effects of hammer blows. Lights off
