51,613 Jobs Supported In 2017, Tesla directly employed 20,189 Californians and stimulated another 31,424 jobs through its local supply chain purchases and employee consumer activity. $4.1 Billion in Workforce Earnings Tesla employees earned $2.1 billion in wages (not including equity) last year. California businesses and suppliers benefited from $2.0 billion in Tesla purchases. $668 Million in Local Taxes Tesla’s generated $323 million in local and state taxes and contributed another $345 million in indirect taxes throughout CA.

Bringing Back California Manufacturing In 2010, Tesla purchased and reopened an empty auto factory in Fremont, California. The factory, once home to General Motors and Toyota’s New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc (NUMMI), shutdown in 2009 resulting in the loss of 4,700 manufacturing jobs.
