Terminal Control Endorsement

Course aim The course is designed to impart knowledge and skills to students that are necessary for them to enable them to receive a student air traffic controller license for a Terminal Control endorsement (TCL).

Course objectives After completion of the course, the trainee will: • Have knowledge, skills and understanding in accordance with the course content (see Content in brief). • Have skills to perform safely and according to rules and regulations, providing orderly and expeditious radar service in an approach and terminal control area with a workload of maximum 30-36 movements per hour. • Show good ability to work in a team.

Course overview The training is divided into phases, each with a different focus. Theoretical events will be followed by practical applications in a simulator. The TCL course covers the following: • Introductory lessons. • Establishing correct methods in handling departing, arriving and overflying traffic in normal situations and for some special events. Training is conducted as individual exercises in a modern radar simulator. • Co-operation between a controller managing a holding pattern and inbound sequencing from the holding pattern and a controller handling the TMA (terminal area) traffic. Special events due to weather phenomena are trained. Training is conducted in a modern radar simulator.

Prerequisites Approved results from the Basic ATC course and APS (Approach Control Surveillance (/training/acp-ratingcourse/?filter=&tab=atc-training)) or ACS (Area Control Surveillance (/training/acs-rating-course/)) course taken at Entry Point North or another EU recognised training facility.
