AN ALL-HAZARDS APPROACH

Friday, February 13, 2015 Jackson Memorial Hospital Miami, Florida This symposium is jointly sponsored by Jackson Health System and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine

Purpose

The purpose of this symposium is to enhance hospital planning and response to disasters and emergencies including mass casualty incidents.

Goal

The goal is to mitigate, to the greatest extent possible, the morbidity and mortality for the people of the state of Florida/United States, and to reduce the potential for economic and social disruption.

Target Audience

The symposium is designed for administrative, emergency management, emergency medicine and other clinical leadership of the hospitals and the physicians, nurses and operational staff of the hospitals and healthcare systems.

Symposium Objectives At the conclusion of this conference participants should be able to: • Explain the role of bystanders in Bomb/Blast/Burn MCI and the Tactical EMS Paradigm • Explain the Need of gathering the necessary information to manage Chemical Disasters • Explain the lessons learned from 2010 Haiti Earthquake Emergency Response • Assess the current Situation of MERS-CoV/EBOLA Virus Disease • Examine the Behavior Health Impact of Major Disasters over last 25 years • Examine the Public Health Preparedness Programs in Miami-Dade County • Examine the Clinical Implications of Bombs, Burns and Blasts • Explain how to become a Disaster Health Information Power User

Nurses: 6.5 hours of Nursing Contact Hours will be provided by the Public Health Trust/Jackson Health System, which is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Registration Cancellation Policy

Refunds will be made only if written notice of cancellation is received prior to January 14, 2015. All refunds will deduct 25% of the registration fee. After this date, no refunds will be made. If the course is cancelled due to insufficient registrations, a full tuition refund will be made.
