APPLICATION PROCESS In order for students to register during early registration beginning March 14, 2016, admission applications MUST be submitted to the Registrar’s Office on or before March 1, 2016. Applications submitted after this date may not qualify in time for early registration, but will be considered for regular registration. In order for students to register during regular registration, admission applications MUST be submitted to the Registrar’s Office on or before April 05, 2016. In addition, all credentials (final official high school transcripts, college transcripts, and ACT or SAT scores) for summer applicants must be in the Registrar’s Office by April 19, 2016, to be reviewed for summer admission. NSU will enforce the application deadline for all undergraduate applications. Any student who submits an application after the stated deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis only. If a late application is accepted, the applicant may have to register late and pay a late registration fee.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY If you register for a course at NSU and decide not to attend, you must OFFICIALLY RESIGN. Students who do not resign or drop courses prior to the last day to make schedule changes will be responsible for all fees and subject to receiving a failing grade in the course. HOURS

REGISTRATION WITH A PREVIOUS BALANCE A student who owes a balance from a previous semester and who, because of extenuating circumstances that can be documented, is unable to pay the balance in full, may appeal. In addition to the appeal, the appellant must demonstrate an ability to pay and pay previous balances by the 14th class day of the semester. If an appeal to register with a previous balance is approved, current semester financial aid will not be disbursed until the previous semester’s balance is paid in full. The appellant will be resigned from classes should he/she fail to pay the previous balance by the 14th class day of the semester. Installment, late registration, and late payment charges will be applied in accordance with policy.

 ALL students are required to use the new NSUConnect system at https://nsuconnect.nsula.edu:4445 to early register for the summer 2016 semester. The NSUConnect system is designed so that only students can use the system to register, add, and/or drop their classes. Faculty members no longer have the capability to register students for classes. All students can do the following on NSUConnect:             

Perform online registration, including add and drop classes during registration periods. Search for open sections of classes, and check registration appointment time. View their class schedule, grades, and unofficial transcripts. Request their official academic transcript. View the listing of classes being offered. View holds that have been placed on their records. View their academic status (good standing, probation or suspension). View and update their addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, and emergency contact information. Change their personal identification number and change their security question. View their CAPP Degree Audit evaluation, and perform a “What If” analysis. View their account balance and make online payments with E-Check. MasterCard, Visa or American Express. View their financial aid information. Electronically accept their Financial Aid award.



Course Load/Maximum Hours of Enrollment in a Summer Semester The maximum amount of course work for which an undergraduate student may register in a summer session is twelve semester hours. An undergraduate student is considered full-time when enrolling in at least six hours of credit for the summer. Any exception to the maximum load limits requires prior approval of the student’s academic dean. 1. An undergraduate student may take six hours in the 1st 4-week, and six hours in the 2nd 4-week for a total of 12 hours. 2. An undergraduate student may take up to 12 hours in the eight-week session. 3. An undergraduate student may take 12 hours in the 12-week session. Note: The 12-week session is for Clinical Nursing/Radiologic Science Students only.

Resignation from the University At some time it may be necessary for a student to leave school. If this should occur, the student should not leave without completing an official resignation that will protect his or her academic standing. Please note carefully: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Students who drop all courses in which they are registered must officially resign from the University. Students must initiate the resignation process in the office of their academic dean by completing a resignation/cancellation form or log on at https://nsuconnect.nsula.edu:4445. A student may resign from the institution with grades of “W” prior to a date specified in the official University academic calendar. Students who leave the University without completing an official resignation may have grades of “F” or “WN” recorded in all courses in which they are registered and will be charged all fees associated with their registration. Students unable to come to campus and without INTERNET access may fax a letter of resignation to the University Registrar’s Office at (318) 357-5823. Students who do not officially resign from the University and receive financial assistance will receive an Unofficial Resignation and aid will be adjusted based on the last date of attendance. These students’ last day of attendance will be verified for all classes of enrollment through the instructor.
