Straitsmouth Island, Rockport Straitsmouth Island is a short paddle, is only several hundred yards from the Gap Cove put-in. There is no formal landing, however there are places to access the island by an experienced Kayaker depending on sea conditions. Hiking the island is difficult as well since it is covered in jagged rock, thorn bushes, and poison ivy. The Massachusetts Audubon Society owns the island, except for the lighthouse.
