They chose this elementary school because the high rate of free and reduced lunches indicated a possible need for scholarships among participants. The grant helped Girls On the Run reach a new group of girls in the Alachua County area and help instill in them messages of empow erment, personal development, and physical accomplishment through running. Thirteen girls betw een third and fifth grade entered the program. Five of them received a full scholarship, and another five received partial scholarships because of the Giving Circle's grant. Because of your generosity, this agency w as also able to utilize their UF student intern as a volunteer Head Coach. The season w rapped up w ith a community-w ide 5K that all of the girls w ere able to participate in. This is just a reminder that every dollar counts, and through collective giving you are able to help w omen and girls in our community reach important life goals.
