Where Grade 2 or 3 protection is required and the below ground wall retains more than 600 mm measured from the top of the retained ground to the lowest finished floor level, the products must be used in combination with either a Type B or C waterproofing protection, as defined in BS 8102 : 2009. The Certificate holder should be consulted for approved Type B and C solutions.

CE marking The Certificate holder has taken the responsibility of CE marking Solco Solsheet Self-Adhesive Membrane in accordance with EN 13969 : 2004. An asterisk (*) appearing in this Certificate indicates that data shown are given in the manufacturer’s Declaration of Performance.

Technical Specification 1 Description 1.1 Solco Solsheet Self-Adhesive Membrane is a 1.5 mm thick, cross-laminated, polyethylene membrane coated on the lower surface with a layer of polymer-modified bitumen. The lower surface of the polymer-modified bitumen is protected by a layer of release film. 1.2 Solco Solsheet GR 1.5 mm Membrane is a self-adhesive membrane comprising a SBS polymer-modified bitumen compound reinforced with HDPE, laminated with a 50 micron thick aluminium film. The membrane has a thin thermally bonded polyethylene protective film on the upper side and a release film on the lower. The membrane has a nominal thickness of 1.5 mm

2 Manufacture 2.1 The membranes are manufactured by coating and laminating. 2.2 As part of the assessment and ongoing surveillance of product quality, the BBA has: • • • • • •

agreed with the manufacturer the quality control procedures and product testing to be undertaken assessed and agreed the quality control operated over batches of incoming materials monitored the production process and verified that it is in accordance with the documented process evaluated the process for management of nonconformities checked that equipment has been properly tested and calibrated undertaken to carry out the above measures on a regular basis as part of a surveillance process to verify that specifications and quality control operated by the manufacturer are maintained.

3 Delivery and site handling 3.1 Rolls of membranes are packed in paper or plastic wrappers bearing the Certificate holder’s name, roll type, batch number and the BBA logo incorporating the number of this Certificate. 3.2 The rolls must be stored in dry conditions, under cover and on end. The temperature must be maintained at between 5 and 30°C. 3.3 When stored in accordance with section 3.2, the membranes will have a shelf-life of 24 months. Page 4 of 10

3.4 The Certificate holder has taken the responsibility of classifying and labelling the products under the CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures. Users must refer to the relevant Safety Data Sheet(s).

Assessment and Technical Investigations The following is a summary of the assessment and technical investigations carried out on Solco Solsheet Self-Adhesive Membrane and Solco Solsheet GR 1.5 mm Membrane.

Design Considerations 4 Use 4.1 Solco Solsheet Self-Adhesive Membrane and Solco Solsheet GR 1.5 mm Membrane are satisfactory for use as Type A waterproofing protection, as defined in BS 8102 : 2009 for waterproofing on new-build underground structures, and as damp-proofing membranes for solid floors in accordance with the relevant clauses of CP 102 : 1973, Section 3. 4.2 The products can be internally and externally applied to provide an effective barrier to the transmission of liquid water where Grades 1 to 3 waterproofing protection is required, as defined in Table 2 of BS 8102 : 2009. 4.3 Where Grade 3 waterproofing protection is required, the environment must be controlled by use of ventilation, dehumidification and/or air conditioning, as appropriate, to ensure dampness does not occur. See also the Additional information part of this Certificate relating to NHBC Standards 2018. 4.4 The products are compatible with concrete, smooth brick and blockwork or screeded substrates, and are resistant to those chemicals likely to be present in normal service conditions. However, care must be taken to prevent contact with oils and solvents. 4.5 Solco Solsheet GR 1.5 mm Membrane is satisfactory for use as a gas-resistant membrane. Installations must be verified in accordance with BS 8485 : 2015. 4.6 The products must always be fully protected immediately after they are installed, in accordance with the Certificate holder’s instructions.

5 Practicability of installation Installation can be carried out readily by operatives experienced with these types of products.

6 Resistance to water and water vapour The membranes, including joints, when completely sealed and consolidated, will adequately resist the passage of moisture from the ground and so enable a structure to comply with the requirements of the national Building Regulations.

7 Resistance to underground gases 7.1 Solco Solsheet GR 1.5 mm Membrane will restrict the ingress of radon, methane and carbon dioxide into a building from landfill and naturally occurring sources, and satisfy the performance criterial for a gas-resistant membrane as defined in BS 8485 : 2015. 7.2 Measured gas permeability on the membrane is given in Table 2.
