Minor Options for Child and Family Studies (CFS) Majors A major in Child and Family Studies (CFS) requires students to complete a minor. Most students choose to minor in Social Science as this is the most applicable minor to our field. It is also the fastest path to graduation, as many of the courses “double-dip” with the university core. A social science minor is very flexible. Students can take courses in a variety of fields, including anthropology (ANTH), criminal justice (CJ), economics (ECON), geography (GEOG), history (HIST), philosophy (PHIL), political science (PSCI), psychology (PSYC), sociology (SOCI), and social work (SOWK). The Social Science minor totals 27 hours; 9 of these hours must be from courses at the 3000 or 4000 level.
