Meeting was held at La Joya ISD athletic office on February 25, 2014 at 3:30. Mrs. Marissa Saenz presented on the implementation of the La Joya ISD Wellness program and facility. She also expressed that we have many school employees taking advantage of gym and its equipment. She also explained how Brownsville ISD sent some representatives to view how our La Joy ISD Volleyball Tournament is run. She also had these visitors see our wellness program gym. Several of our presenters were not able to attend since they were out in meetings. On HB 5 – Mr. Valdez explained that our district will have to evaluate itself on different areas. Many components will be incorporated into the evaluation. Meeting will be held at Region I to provide more guidance. House Bill 987 – Mr. Valdez explained that all graduating seniors for next year must receive instruction in CPR. A letter was presented to the committee that states that the curriculum will be developed by La Joya ISD. La Joya ISD along with PE/Heath Department will develop a curriculum to ensure that these seniors meet state requirements. PE/Health/Athletics Report: Activities that are happening at La Joya ISD are:  Fitness Gram will begin this week. Coaches must incorporate activities and results need be submitted to TEA.  Curriculum Writing- High Schools have begun to develop curriculum during early release. They are focus on individual and team sports and activities.  Summer training have been submitted for approval: o John Thomson – Elementary Coaches, “Making a Difference in Physical Education” o CRP Training o Dan Green – Proper Running Techniques o “ Bigger, Faster and Stronger”  Wellness activities include: o La Joya ISD Wellness Softball May 20th o La Joya ISD 19th Annual Elementary Track Meet o Wellness Fair on February 27th at Wellness Gym

Next meeting will be on April 15, 2014 at 9:00 at La Joya ISD Athletic Dept.
