Pre-K News September 6, 2013
Fine Motor- HELP!! Please remember to send your child’s Friday folder back to school with him/her on Monday’s. Thank you!! We have really had fun learning more about the students in Pre-K!! We are finding out that our class has lots of commonalities with likes and dislikes. We discussed some of our differences and how that makes us unique and special! We started making a book called All About Me! We have worked so hard on it!! We practiced holding our scissors correctly while cutting, and holding our crayons correctly while coloring! This week was fun!!
Coloring, cutting and writing are a BIG part of the PRE-K curriculum! This is a hard skill when your student hasn’t had a lot of exposure to it! The muscles in the hand have to be developed much like any other muscle. PLEASE have them practice this skill at home as well. Have your student color a picture (free hand or coloring page) for someone special. Make sure to have them write their name (another skill we are working on) on it so they know who it is from. When writing your child’s name we capitalize the first letter, and use lowercase for the rest. If you need some coloring pages, please let me know and I will send some home with your child. Thank you for helping your student!! They will thank you later!

We will be taking school pictures next Wednesday, Sept. 11th. The Pre-K will be the first class to take pictures. If you would like to purchase the pictures please send the money on Wednesday with your child. OR you may send it back in the Friday folder on Monday and we will keep it for you until Wednesday.
Library We have squared away our other library day!! We will officially be going to the library on MONDAY’S and FRIDAY’S!! However, if there is testing or something going on in the library, then we are unable to check out

Jobs Each week your student has a job. This will help them to understand responsibility and make our classroom a real community! I will send home a list of everyone’s job, so you can discuss it with them at home. (This will also help if they can’t remember their job!)
