Bitterns & Shorebirds - Gems of the South East Join us for a free workshop on the wetland birds of the South East their special ecology, and how to ID, survey and protect them

Friends of Shorebirds South East and BirdLife Australia are holding this workshop to introduce you to the remarkable birds of the Wetlands of SE South Australia. Learn more about the original Bunyip and the shorebird’s 10,000 km trip to get here. This weekend workshop is open to everyone interested in wetland birds of the South East and their protection. The workshop is better than a free lunch because it also includes: ● BirdLife Bittern expert Andrew Silcocks will talk on bitterns followed by a survey - probably your best chance to spot one of < 1,000 of these birds left in Australia. ● Golo Maurer BirdLife Australia’s Shorebirds 2020 project manager will present on the feats of shorebird migration and the amazing adaptations of our resident shorebirds. ● A course and quiz to get you started or refreshed on shorebird ID and counting. ● A field trip to convince you that it’s easy to join us in counting shorebirds for conservation. ● Adelaide Optical and Nikon will present on how to look after your binos and cameras. ● A goodie bag with a starter kit to our nationwide monitoring program Shorebirds 2020.
