INT. LAUNDRY ROOM – NIGHT A normal laundry room of a college dormitory. ROB is standing by a washing machine looking out the door. He is dressed very raggedly in a dirty T-shirt and jeans and looks very unkempt overall. On top of the machine next to him is a huge laundry bag, stuffed to capacity. He sees someone approaching the entrance and has a sudden gleam in his eye. Quickly, he opens the laundry bag and is about to take out his clothes. HEATHER, beautiful, dressed extremely neat and clean and very put together, walks through the door carrying a laundry basket, passes Rob and goes to a washing machine a few machines away from him. He quickly collects his belongings and goes to the machine next to her. He smiles broadly at her. She smiles faintly back. ROB Hi. HEATHER Hi. She goes back to putting her clothes in the machine. He stares at her. ROB Do you come here often? HEATHER Whenever I need to do the laundry. ROB you look very clean.

Right… Well,

HEATHER Thanks. ROB I mean, you know… Mountain fresh and all.

ROB (cont’d) Yup. I knew it. Mountain fresh scent Tide. I could smell it the minute you walked through the door. Ahh. It really is mountain fresh. HEATHER Like the smell of dew in the crisp morning air.

ROB Or a romantic evening by the campfire roasting marshmallows. HEATHER So do you always talk this way to strange women you meet in the laundry room? ROB No. Just you. But we’ve met. Don’t you remember? HEATHER You must be thinking of someone else. ROB No. We met here at the beginning of the semester. You were folding your mountain fresh clothes as they came out the dryer; And I was putting my clothes in the wash.

HEATHER Wow! You’ve got a good memory… It’s just that you meet so many new people at the beginning of the semester. What was your name again? ROB Rob. It’s Rob. HEATHER Hi. I’m— ROB Heather. I know. I never forget a woman who takes the care to fold her clothes straight from the dryer. HEATHER If you don’t fold them right away, there’s no way to get the wrinkles out later. ROB My thoughts exactly. They gaze at each other once again. It’s as if Heather is seeing him for the first time. She appears to be attracted, but quickly gets disturbed as she notices how truly filthy his clothes are.

HEATHER So this is a pretty big wash for you, huh? ROB What? She examines and gestures to his filthy attire. HEATHER Well, your clothes… I mean… You’ve got a full bag, plus whatever you just put in the wash. ROB (Looking at his bag) Oh yeah. All my clothes are in the wash, though. I just keep a few necessities in here, you know. CONTINUED He takes out a large bottle of spring water and a loaf of bread out of the bag. He takes a bit out of the loaf of bread and hands it in her direction.
