This comprehensive four-day course, offered over two weekends, is for all health professionals who face diabetes in practice. The goal is to update your understanding of the complexities of diabetes care, and learn effective approaches to educate those affected by diabetes. This is an exciting, one-of-a-kind program with a solid history. It is an ideal program if you want to enter the dynamic and rewarding field of diabetes education and management. The first weekend of the program is primarily lecture and case studies describing the fundamentals of diabetes management. The second weekend focuses on educational principles & behavior change strategies. FIRST WEEKEND TOPICS INCLUDE:  Diabetes Overview, Classification, Diagnosis, Management goals  Acute & Chronic Complications  Medical Nutrition Therapy  Pharmacological Management  Physical Activity & Exercise Recommendations SECOND WEEKEND TOPICS INCLUDE:  Teaching & Learning Principles  Healthy Behavioral Change & Psychosocial Assessment  Unique Diabetes Management in Kids, Pregnancy, Elderly  Interactive Learning Stations & Role Playing

The registration fee includes syllabus, certificate of completion, lunch and refreshments. This program is approved for 30 contact hours for RNs and pharmacists, and 25 CPE II for RDs.

  Provider is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #12640 and Commission on Dietetic Registration, Provider #D1002. In the event of non-attendance, participants may request a refund minus $75 for administration fees.
