CARLOW COUNTY COUNCIL EXECUTIVE LIBRARIAN – ONE YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT Qualifications
1.
Character Each candidate must be of good character.
2.
Health Each candidate must be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
3.
Education, training, experience, etc Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms (a)
(b)
Subject to the provisions of paragraph (b) below, each candidate must (i)
be well educated
(ii)
on or before the latest date for the receipt of completed application forms for the office, hold the diploma in Library and Information Studies of the National University of Ireland, or have satisfied the examination and thesis requirements leading to the Fellowship of the Library Association of Ireland, or possess an equivalent qualification;
(iii)
have at least two years satisfactory training in or experience of library work;
(iv)
possess a sufficient knowledge of Irish and English to enable him/her perform the duties of the post in both languages
The requirement of (a) (ii) above will not apply in the case of an existing holder of a post of Assistant Librarian in a local authority of the State.
