PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: As a member of the CHC Asset Management Department and under the supervision of the Manager of Capital Projects the Purchasing Assistant is responsible for a wide variety of purchasing services for CHC including procurement of office supplies and equipment. Visa purchasing cards reconciliation and purchasing of miscellaneous goods and services. The Purchasing Assistant will also provide administrative and clerical support to the department including but not limited to updating databases, generating a variety of reports and maintaining the Key Control system. The successful applicant will perform the following duties for CHC: Coordinate the purchasing for all administrative office supplies, equipment and services and miscellaneous goods and services ordered by the main office. This includes but is not limited to: preparing administrative purchasing requests; compiling quotation summary reports with recommendations for approval; placing orders and following up re-on-time delivery; ensure that all invoices are verified and corrected; adhere to CHC Corporate standards and policies; maintain vendor information and ensuring appropriate supply levels are maintained. Following CHC Maintain Key Control, Andover system, Bar Code Scanner systems and Identicam Programs. Compile and prepare various capital reports; provide clerical support to Manager and/or Director of Asset Engineering where required. Receive calls on Emergency Services Line taking the appropriate action; present a positive and professional image of the organization to all visitors, suppliers, inquiries and other interactions. As a member of the Asset Management team, assist Manager in achieving objectives by coordinating administrative activities and by maintaining knowledge of the department including assisting in developing and executing cost saving plans for future purchasing actions. Backup the Asset Management Assistant position and participate in Customer Service Clerk rotational relief duties; and any other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures and previous direct work experience in this capacity; sufficient range of administrative procedures with the ability to backup the Asset Management Assistant position as required and provide backup coverage for the Customer Service desk; strong knowledge of general office procedures; excellent verbal and written communication skills; general mathematical skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office products with emphasis on Word, Excel as well as experience in Yardi systems an asset. Strong keyboarding skills; ability to compile reports, analyze data and formulate spreadsheets; ability to multitask and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively by phone, in person and in writing; strong customer service orientation. Previous work experience in handling confidential or sensitive information; knowledge of applicable data privacy laws is beneficial. This is a Bargaining Unit position. Starting hourly rate is $22.01 per hour for a 35 hour work week.
