The Sacramento Employment and Training Agency (SETA), a joint powers agency of the City and County of Sacramento, and Sacramento Works, Inc., the Local Workforce Investment Board of the County of Sacramento, will hold a public hearing to solicit comments from the public and input from Local Workforce Investment Area (LWIA) stakeholders (employers, education, labor and community based organizations) to begin the development of the Sacramento 5-year Strategic Plan, Program Years (PY) 2014-2018. The new plan will respond to the current and foreseen challenges faced by the local workforce system, will provide a framework for regional cooperation and investment, will encourage continuous improvement of services to clients and business, and will respond to policy direction in workforce legislation. SETA and Sacramento Works, Inc. unite businesses, labor, education and public agencies to ensure qualified and trained workers are available to meet the needs of the region’s economy. This is accomplished by identifying occupations that are critical to the future growth of the region and focusing resources on expanding education and training opportunities in those areas. A copy of the Sacramento Works Strategic Plan Summary adopted in May, 2011 is available on seta.net under the public information section of the website. The date and location of the public hearing is as follows: DATE:

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

TIME:

9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

PLACE:

SETA’s Administrative Office 925 Del Paso Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95815

Information gathered at the hearing and through other means will be compiled into the draft Sacramento LWIA 5-year Strategic Plan, PY 2014-18, and will be made available for public review and comment in late February, 2013 on SETA’s website at seta.net.

Persons interested in submitting written recommendations or comments to be considered in the development of the plan may do so by emailing Michelle O’Camb at [email protected].
