The Lost Creek PTO would like to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with us, we are a volunteer organization made up of parents, teachers, administrators, and support staff who are all dedicated to the successful education of our children. The PTO works hard to help make the school year both enjoyable and exciting for students, teachers, and parents - providing opportunities and resources that enhance the learning environment for all students. This involvement comes in many forms and is the result of great community participation and volunteerism. We in the PTO believe that it is important for parents do everything we can to enhance the learning environment of our children as they truly are our future. Our organization supports students, teachers, and classrooms in two main ways: volunteering and fundraising. In recent years, the Lost Creek PTO has contributed the following to our school and our students: 

Classrooms: financial and volunteer support o At the start of the school year, each classroom received funds to help purchase classroom supplies and educational enrichment aides. Social Night sponsorship: financial and volunteer support o School-wide skating night at the Wigwam, Bingo for Books, Grandparents’ Week, and the Fall Festival are just a few of the ways we try to build community and provide opportunities for family fun! School upgrades (technology or special projects): financial support. o

The PTO is very excited to have contributed to recent technology support within the school. Through your fundraising efforts and the work of PTO volunteers, we have been able to put an iPad in every classroom! In addition, we were able to provide several iPads for the Media Center that our students are able to utilize. In today’s world, access to technology is very important to our students and teachers; iPads offer educators more diverse methods for delivering instruction and engaging students for learning in the 21st century. Providing needed technology for our students will continue to be a PTO focus. Art, PE, Music, & Media Center support: financial and volunteer support Health Room: financial support Pointing Towards Perfection: financial and volunteer support o New families, this is a wonderful program/prize system that encourages perfect attendance. Teacher Appreciation activities: financial and volunteer support Field Day: financial and volunteer support Book Fairs: financial and volunteer support o The National Children’s Literacy website states: More than any other single skill, the ability to read – and read well – allows a child to succeed in school, learn about the world, function in society, and someday have decent job options. Tuesday folders: financial support

Volunteers, volunteers, volunteers: Such a rewarding way to engage with so many wonderful students, teachers, and staff! If you have a day a week you can commit, or just a few hours a year, then your talents can be of great use!

We offer many fundraising opportunities with a “variety is the spice of life” philosophy. Our hope is that there are some activities that align with your family’s desire to participate. These events help raise funds to support our school, as well as to support social events that are purely for student and family enjoyment. Our fundraising efforts involve the following:    

Membership drive (Aug & Sept) Magazine drive (Aug & Sept) Fall mum sale (late Sept) Fall Festival (Friday, October 27th)

   

Cookies & Canvas schooolstore.com (all year) Trash bag sales (spring) Spring flower sale
