Program Intern, Asia Pacific Internship Internship posted by: Global Fund for Women Posted on: March 18, 2015 Internship description SUMMARY: The Program Intern will provide support to the Asia and the Pacific (AP) team in three main areas and be encouraged to take a lead over assigned projects: 1. Administrative support in the form of entering, analyzing and summarizing grantee data, including identifying and developing grantee success stories; 2. Research & propose new communications strategies to enhance the AP Team's interactions with grantee partners and other women's groups in the region to include research on models and best practices that will be presented along with recommendations to the AP Team; 3. Complete a research project based on collecting and analyzing data around the AP Team's emerging movement building strategies. Selection will be made based on organizational priorities and student's interests. This will be a summer long project that will culminate in the production of a research memo and presentation to the AP Team During the internship period the Intern will learn and deepen knowledge of women's rights issues, activism and movements in AP, will acquire skills related to the grantmaking process, and will gain an insight into the work of foundations. LOCATION: San Francisco ESSENTIAL INTERNSHIP FUNCTIONS INCLUDE: Administrative support • Entering, analyzing and summarizing grantee data • Identifying and developing grantee success stories Communication Strategy Development • Research on models and best practices on various communication options • Presenting findings and recommendations to the AP Team • Potentially assisting with initial start-up of selected strategies

Research Project • Collect and analyze data on selected topic • Prepare final memo and presentation to share with AP Team KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Knowledge of human rights and commitment to women's rights • Familiarity with women's rights work or women's rights issues in AP • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task • Strong writing, research and analytic skills • Active social media user that is knowledgeable of various platforms and their use • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment Preferred: • Previous living, working or studying experience in the AP region • Experience using databases or conducting data entry • Knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor's or Master's degree (in progress) preferably in gender studies, women's studies, sociology, international studies, public policy, development studies, political science, or another related field • Some work or volunteer experience, preferably in non-profit organizations TERM: The internship requires a commitment of 24-32 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. This internship is unpaid. Academic credit may be available as the internship offers direct exposure to the operations of an international human rights organization, close supervision by the GFW staff, interaction with community activists and opportunities to participate in presentations and special events relating to women's human rights. Intern candidates should check with their individual institutions regarding academic requirements for credit.
