2014 Summary of the Activities of the Allegany County Probation Department Intake - The unit screened 66 new cases in the areas of Custody, Visitation, Support, Juvenile Delinquency and Persons In Need of Supervision during 2014. Investigations - A total of 307 Pre-Dispositional, Pre-Plea, and Pre-Sentence investigations were ordered by the County, Justice and Family Courts in 2014. Supervision - At year’s end, 423 individuals were on probation supervision in Allegany County. The criminal courts accounted for 385 cases. There were 38 active Family Court supervision cases. Collections - The total collections for the year were $146,278.52. This total includes restitution to crime victims. The Department opened 271 new accounts in 2014. Staff Development – All staff either met or exceeded the 21 training credit hours they are required to have. One Probation Supervisor completed a 180 hour on-line course entitled “High Performance Management”. Pre Trial Release – 860 defendants screened; 222 defendants interviewed; 95 defendants released under supervision. Community Service Sentencing Program – 21 offenders screened. 19 offenders received into the program. They completed 320 hours of community service work. Electronic Home Monitoring – 45 new defendants ordered to EHM in 2014. The Department monitored a total of 57 defendants in 2014. Offender EHM fees collected in 2014 amounted to $13,221.00. 3R Domestic Violence Treatment Program – 34 defendants referred; 22 accepted; 45 defendants participated in a group during 2014. Ignition Interlock- The Department received 49 new Ignition Interlock orders. Fifteen (15) defendants installed a device. Thinking for a Change (T4C)- Eleven adults successfully completed this program in 2014. Sex Offender Treatment Program- 26 offenders in groups at the end of 2014. Ready, Set, Work- new program which began in 2014. Fifteen individuals successfully graduated from this program in 2014. Internship Program- The Department hosted four interns in 2014.
