At Key Stage 3 students study a variety of different sports. During each sport students will learn to develop key skills that will enable them to perform each sport effectively. They will self and peer analyse performance and coach participants with use of strength and weakness identification. Work completed at KS3 will prepare students for the BTEC or GCSE sport route at KS4 as an in depth knowledge is required and the ability to take on different roles within sport.

Year 7, 8 and 9 are assessed using National Curriculum Levels. Year 7’s complete a 3 weeks of base lining activities which they are assessed against the NC criteria and set into ability groups. These grades are displayed on the Physical Education COG Board for students to see what they are achieving at each activity.

Students are encouraged to take part in the Physical Education Enrichment programme which runs 4 days a week and offers a wide range of activities to provide opportunities for all. This enables them to further develop their skills in preparation for lessons. Students are given homework each week which links in with the PE assessment criteria.
