Project Heart Start Thanks to Dr. Barry Ramo and the New Mexico Heart Institutes’ Project Heart Start (PHS) we are bringing the “Hands Only CPR” into the communities around the Enchanted Circle. Project Heart Start is a program to Save Lives of Victims of Sudden Cardiac Death The Mission: PHS is dedicated to saving the lives of victims of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest by teaching all capable citizens to perform the new compression-only CPR. A second goal is to encourage and facilitate the placement and proper utilization of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
No CPR certifications are required to be a coach to train the communities This community training is only 1 hour long In our experience: participants leave feeling confident they can perform the easy skill of hands only CPR The community is exposed to an AED and encouraged to utilize one Participants are shown what to do for choking victim Participants are educated on what to do if someone is demonstrating signs of having a heart attack
