Social Jus ce Case Studies

Social Jus ce is one of those terms that’s become popular in recent years, but what does it really mean? Some say it’s about legal equality and others say it’s about trea ng all people with dignity and respect. Regardless of your defini on, a common thread seems to be the no on that everyone deserves fair and equal treatment. In this session, we will dialogue about social jus ce issues in our community, and discuss case studies involving this topic. By the end of this session, par cipants should: 1. Be aware of the different social jus ce issues happening in McLean County. 2. Be able to iden fy ways to respond to social jus ce ma ers they encounter. 11:10 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.

Board Networking Fair

During this session you’ll experience numerous 4‐5 minute sessions of speed networking with local community organiza ons in need of board and commi ee members. Each organiza on will spend 2‐3 minutes describing their organiza on and needs. You will have a few minutes to ask ques ons before you move to the next organiza on. Remember to follow‐up with those organiza ons with whom you would like to work. 1:00 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.

Leadership and Values

These ques ons will be discussed using real life examples during this session: 1. How do you lead with your values? 2. What does a leader do if neither training nor past experiences have prepared you for a difficult situa on? 3. How do you make effec ve decisions under stress with limited me to gather or analyze data? By the end of this session par cipants should understand and appreciate: 1. Their personal value choices compared to the value choices of others. 2. Their decisions in personal crisis situa ons compared to others decisions. 4:00 p.m.—4:15 p.m. Inspira onal Story 4:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
