2011 Teen Read Week Picture It with Posters- Guidelines and Requirements Poster The poster must be created by a teen or group of teens. Library staff may facilitate, manage, and/or assist, but teens must be the primary creators of the project. READ Design software must be used to create the poster project. More than one poster/essay project may be submitted by each library. Content One or more of your library’s teens must be featured in the poster. (Group photos with multiple books are also acceptable.) One or more books must be featured in the poster. It is important that the teen(s) have read the book in order to complete the essay portion of the project. Resolution Digital Cameras: A 3.2 megapixel camera is recommended to produce photo-quality prints up to 8.5˝ x 11˝. Creating poster-size prints larger than 8.5˝ x 11˝ requires a 5.0 mega-pixel camera or greater. Scanning Images: For best quality in creating poster-size prints, start with originals that are at least 8˝ x 10˝, and scan them at no less than 300 dpi. Printing: Posters are sized at 11˝ x 17˝ to accommodate printing with standard, tabloid-sized paper, but can be printed as small as 8.5˝ x 11.5˝. For true-to size 22˝ x 34˝ READ posters, your completed digital files can be transferred to a portable drive as jpgs for printing at a local print shop. Essay An essay must be submitted for each poster created by your teen(s). This is NOT a book review, but rather an opportunity for the teen(s) to explain why the particular book was chosen to be featured in the poster. The essay must: Be written by the teens involved in the project. Be at least 100-150 words in length. (No more than 200 words.) State why the book(s) was chosen for the poster. * Include the title and author for each book. *If more than one book is featured in the poster, only one essay needs to be submitted. However it must address each book separately and explain why it was included in the poster.

Submission Guidelines: Obtain for your records a signed release form from a parent or guardian for each minor (age 18 years and younger) featured in the poster. Save the essay and poster as pdf documents. Submit poster/essay via email to Erica Compton ([email protected]) by Wednesday, November 2nd to be shared with the Idaho community. Because of the short timeline between submission and community viewing, late submissions cannot be accepted. Promote voting by teens and staff. ICfL will announce the site where the posters/essays will be posted and rules for voting via libidaho, The Scoop, and ICfL blog.
