Students are put to work as they enter the classroom, so please help to get them here on time. If your child eats breakfast, please drop him/her off by 8:05am. That leaves plenty of time to eat and get to class by the 8:15am bell. Look at the report card to see if your child has excessive tardiesyou might be surprised. FALL FESTIVAL- Wow! After expenses, our PTO raised $1,604.80 for DeVaney students! What a fun fundraiser! TEXT ALERTS– As the weather begins to change, please consider signing up for HI-99 Text Alerts. It’s free! The steps are: 1. Go to www.hi99.com and click on the “HI-99 Text Alert” banner. 2. Sign up your cell phone number and email address for alerts. 3. Select the alerts that you wish to receive. 4. Then activate your account. I/E PERIOD- Monday through Thursday, all grades have a thirty minute block of time called I/E. The I stands for interventions and the E means enrichment. During that time, students are grouped by performance. Some stay in the classroom and work with their teacher while others go into another classroom and work with a different teacher or adult in the building.

This process allows students the opportunity to be grouped with others who have similar needs. Teachers have made plans to target the specific needs of each group. Groups will be evaluated and regrouped at the end of the second, nine week grading period. You can count on our professional staff to make the most of this block of time! I am eager to see the results! LOST AND FOUND– The items are mounting! Ask your child to check for missing belongings or come in and check them out. We will have a table at Language Arts Night for families to browse. We give students an opportunity once a week to look at the items, but the pile continues to grow!! At the end of November, we will send the items to a charity. MAYOR BENNETT’S CHARACTER AWARD PROGRAM– In October, teachers looked for students who exhibited Sportsmanship: Behaving in a fair and reasonable way, especially during competition. It was a tough choice, but each teacher selected one student who has demonstrated sportsmanship. The fee for kindergarten is $97.00 and the book fee for grades 1-5 is $121.00. You may stop in the school office and pay Ms. May, or send the money to school with your child.
