Dear Third-Grade Families, We are now half way through the fourth quarter of school. Midterm grades were mailed home to families today. On Thursday, all GGS students participated in the Big Sky Fit Kids event. During this time all students rotated through activity centers to celebrate fitness and fun! As we approach the end of the school year, there are several exciting events at GGS: 

Beef Raffle tickets to help us go on our field trips for the coming years (Raffle is extended until May 13, 2013)

Gateway Fireman's Pancake Breakfast, May 18, 7 am – 10 am – Third graders will meet at the fire hall

Missouri Headwaters Field trip, May 28, 2013

This week, third graders continued research on native tribes of Montana. Students are compiling information and developing poster displays for presentation of their understandings. Our class enjoyed a new favorite game this week: "Pin the Reservation on Montana" (a rendition of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey").

In mathematics, students are sharpening multiplication skills as they approach multi-digit algorithms. The gateway to success in multi-digit algorithms is fluency in primary multiplication facts. Practice with your child at home to help develop these important skills. Also, please see this week's IXL Challenge at

Families are reminded that picture packets were due back to school this week. If you have not yet returned your student's photos, please make selections and return order forms and checks as soon as possible. If you do not wish to keep any of your student's photos, simply return the photo package to me or to the main office. Please make all checks payable to Lifetouch School Portraits.

Third graders are expected to read and log with family members daily on their May Reading Logs. Thank you for making reading a priority in your home!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at [email protected]. Also, be sure to visit the third-grade website for updates, extra practice, and homework information! Enjoy the weekend! -Ms. Hudson
