Newsletter Friday October 2nd 2015

Dear Parents, Carers, Governors and Friends, Another busy week here at Raglan. All Meet and Greet sessions have now taken place, so I hope you feel more informed about what your child is learning this term. Please look out for the individual class curriculum letters which include further details about the learning and how you can support your child with this. We thank you for your continued support and wish you a very happy weekend. Fingers crossed for some more sunshine!

1R’s Amazing Assembly! It was 1R’s turn to share the learning in assembly this week. This was their very first class assembly and they were fantastic. They performed a story, sang a song, shared some

artwork and told us many interesting facts about the Queen. Thank you to all of the parents who were able to attend. The children loved seeing you there.

Home Learning We are reviewing the current arrangements for home learning. Class teachers, as well as setting spellings and number work are also setting more open-ended activities which we hope will engage the children further in their learning. It would be helpful to have your feedback about this. Please let teachers know your opinions.

Next week Friday 9th October - we are holding our Harvest Festival Assembly. We would be grateful for any donations of nonperishable food items. Children may also dress up in autumn colours if they would like to and we ask for a £1 donation

FOR Events Tuesday 6th October - Pre loved uniform sale in the playground AGM meeting 6th October at 7:30pm – please support if you are able

Pizza time! Year 2 had an exciting visit to Pizza Express this week. All children went home with a yummy pizza that they had made. Next week they are off to Tescos!!

Reminders Please pay any outstanding dinner money by the end of next week. The office staff are very busy and it takes a lot of time to chase this. Year 6 Residential Journey – some deposits still outstanding please pay next week to secure your child’s place. Thank you.

Outside Area We are currently working on sprucing up the outside area which has been a little neglected over recent months. Once this is completed, I am keen to develop the learning opportunities outside the classroom and use some of the lovely learning space we are fortunate to have in the playground. If there are any parents who have an interest in the outdoors and could spare some time on a regular basis to help us with this please let me know.

Eco Schools We are setting up the Eco Council again and would really like to develop this across the school. Please let me know if any parents are interested in getting involved with this.

Dogs on site We would like to ask parents kindly, who own dogs, to now please tie them up to the perimeter fence of the school. We do love dogs and understand that it is lovely to walk them before and after school with your children. However at these busy periods of the day, many Atpass Work! people through the gates and our four- legged friends are restricting access and we don’t want them to be trodden on. We are also aware that some children are weary of dogs and this can cause some anxiety when entering and leaving school. Thank you so much for your understanding and working with us.
