Newsletter Friday April 29th 2016

Dear Parents, Carers, Governors and Friends, I hope you enjoyed reading the Special Reading Festival Newsletter last week. The staff worked really hard to make the week special for the children, particularly Ms Wood who co ordinated and led the week. We all had a fantastic time enjoying books and reading in so many different ways. A big thank you to you all for supporting your children with the Extreme Reading , Dress your Potato and writing competitions – so many original ideas and entries. Have an enjoyable long weekend and let’s hope the weather is kind! Look forward to seeing you all again on Tuesday. Kath Margetts and Staff

LLC AND ULC Family Assembly (last week) LLC and ULC shared what was in their surprise boxes and the reading and writing that this inspired. Thank you to all the parents and carers who were able to attend, it was a lovely occasion.

FUN LEARNING These are some of the Anglo-Saxon houses that 4K made for their home learning. They did a magnificent job researching Anglo-Saxon houses and used some life like materials. Well done!

3D Family Assembly 3D shared the Crime Scene that occurred in their class room last week and how they worked together to solve what had happened. The jury found the frogs guilty as charged ! (the right decision I think) Unfortunately I was at a meeting this morning so missed the first showing, but 3D kindly performed it again for Ms Woods and I. Thank you

Debbie Sanders aka Mrs Dolly

We were very lucky to have a visit from Debbie Sanders during Book Festival week. Debbie’s greatest joy is storytelling in schools and nurseries and she specialises in stories and songs for under-fives. As well as telling stories from around the world, she now tells and sings her own stories. Please visit her website if you missed her at the Market Stall http://www.minaminouproductions.com/minaproductions/

Chatterton Road Zebra Crossing Thank you to everyone who replied to the JTA’s survey about a zebra crossing on Chatterton Road. We had a great response with overwhelming support for the crossing. We wrote to the council with our results and they have replied. They said that there have not been many accidents along the road over the last few years, therefore it is unlikely we would get funding for the crossing. However, we still think it would be a good thing for the safety of the pupils and the community to have a crossing. We are considering what we could do next, including asking the wider community for their support. We will keep you posted. From Florence Melrose and Sarina Bodbin
