Dear Parents, Carers, Governors and Friends, I can’t believe this half term is over already. The children have all done lot’s of great learning and have definitely earned their half term break. A special mention to Yr 2 who have been focussing on their SAT’s over the last couple of weeks and have all really tried their very best. Welcome back to Yr 6 who had a fabulous week in the Isle of Wight – please look on the website and Twitter to see what they got up to while away. Thank you again to all the staff who made this possible. Have a great half term and we’ll see you back on Monday June 6th – and remember the following Monday is an Inset Day so school will be closed to the children.

Kath Margetts and staff Half Term Activities Why not take part in some car free activities this half term Take the train Kids travel for £1 each when accompanied by an adult with an off peak fare. Free Activities at Intu No booking required and open to all ages, but particularly suitable for children in pre-school and early years. Go online and visit http://intu.co.uk/bromley/events/may-half-term to find out more. Monday – Jewellery good enough to eat! Kids will create their very own jewellery and eat it! From bracelets to necklaces, there will be something tasty for everyone to create. Tuesday – The Seedlings Club. Little guests will learn the basics of gardening with intu Bromley’s ‘Seedlings Club’. Activities will include planting seeds in recycled bottles and cans, then take them home and watch them grow. Wednesday - Pedal Powered Painting. A special bike will be available to create unique abstract spin art. Through pedal power, little artists will be able to paint dazzling spirals, circles and streaks and make up their own designs to take home. Thursday and Friday - iPads. Yougnsters will learn how to build creatures by completing a series of simple DNA puzzles and altering genes to achieve crazy mutations of different body parts. Little ones can also learn how to code using a fun, visual programming language while making their own awesome games and publish them instantly for anyone to play.

Children’s University Activities

Check the Forestry Commission website - they have an activity sheet to download and complete if you visit one of their woodlands. Museum of London have an activity to complete at the museum. Any Sea Life Aquarium should have children's University activities to complete Lego Land – is also registered with the Children’s University

Assembly with J'amies Gymnastics Academy On Wednesday we were very lucky to have a talented guest in assembly. Jamie, director of J’amie’s Gymnastics Academy demonstrated to the children how talented you can be if you work hard at your sport. Poor Mr. Robertson and 7 other children were asked to lie down while Jamie spring-boarded over their bodies and finished with a somersault on the mat!! Jamie’s Gym have several clubs after school, as well as an academy in the school gym on Wednesday nights. Look at their website www.jamiesgymnasticsacademy.co.uk for half-term holiday sessions. A flyer is also going home in the children’s book bags. You can also see Jamie on YouTube showing his talents on the Britain’s got talent stage this year- look out for him again next year!

Year 1 Year 1 have been working with the coaches on problem solving in PE. Working as a team to get across the hall on 'rafts' and keeping out of the shark infested water was great fun! It was great to see them developing communication, cooperation and leadership skills – well done

Bromely Council Cycling Competition Bromley Borough Council Cycling Competition: This week, 8 children from Year 5 competed in a highly competitive cycling race down at Norman Park. They were picked from a hat but luckily all of them could ride a bike! They did extremely well on a very difficult off-road course on grassy hills and tight bends. Keanu Nguyen was awarded 3rd place overall in the boy's section. Well done Keanu and all the Year 5 competitors who made Raglan proud!
