City of North Battleford gets $200,000 grant for paving work at Cameron McIntosh Airport The City of North Battleford is getting $200,000 from the province to re-pave three taxiways and the apron at its Cameron McIntosh Airport. The grant, which will cover half of the $400,000 cost of the work, is being provided to the municipality under the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure’s Community Airport Partnership Program. The other half is being provided by the City of North Battleford. “We’re very pleased to once again be working in partnership with the Province of Saskatchewan as part of our on-going commitment to maintaining safe and efficient airport operations here in North Battleford and the rest of northwest Saskatchewan,” says City Manager Jim Puffalt. Highways and Infrastructure Minister Nancy Heppner announced $700,000 of Community Airport Partnership grants Monday. The minister called this investment in local improvements critical to Saskatchewan’s economic development, accessibility and safety. Janet Keim, president of the Saskatchewan Aviation Council, agrees. According to Keim, the use of air transportation is a vital component of Saskatchewan’s economic growth. Monday, she applauded the grants which she described as “an excellent contribution in support of local airports.” Since 2007, the province has provided almost $214,000 for work at the Cameron McIntosh Airport, including lighting upgrades, runway and drainage system rehabilitation, and the replacement of storm sewers.
