Newburyport Harbor Scenic Newburyport harbor in the vicinity of the Route 1 Bridge offers views of both the Newburyport and Salisbury shorelines as well as a variety of power and sailboats moored throughout the harbor. Navigating this harbor, however, can be extremely dangerous in a small self-propelled craft as a result of strong river and tidal currents and boat traffic and boat wakes, particularly in the area near the bridge. Newburyport Harbor can be accessed from the Cashman Park, Joppa Park, Salisbury Beach, Salisbury Town Pier, and the North End of Plum Island put-in sites.
