WEST OTTAWA BOARD OF EDUCATION Approved Minutes Special Board Meeting March 11, 2011
President S. VanderStoep called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. in the Administration Office Training Room. Members present:
President S. VanderStoep; Vice President G. Jacob; Secretary S. Smith; and Trustees, B. Kangas, D. Mahn and R. Schipper.
Members absent:
Trustee W. Bloemendaal
Moved by G. Jacob, supported by D. Mahn, that the agenda be approved as presented. The motion was unanimously approved. Under communications from the audience (for items on the agenda), Pat Seif, 14060 Fox Trail Drive, addressed the board regarding the superintendent search process and the degree of community input. Moved by R. Schipper, supported by D. Mahn, that the board invite Suzanne Richards, Thomas Martin, and Thomas Langdon to visit the District as candidates for the position of Superintendent. The motion was unanimously approved. S. VanderStoep commented that the quality of the applicant pool was outstanding and that it is a tribute to the staff that so many qualified applicants want to work at West Ottawa. D. Mahn thanked the search committee for their hard work. During communications from the audience (for any issues), Lorelle Eberly, 16464 Greenly Street, commented about the bond noting that there have been updates to the existing football stadium since its original construction. Moved by D. Mahn, supported by R. Schipper, that the meeting adjourn at 8:37 a.m.
