Registration for Teen Adventure takes place near the upper parking lot by the crab apple tree.

Camper T-shirts: A limited number of camper T-shirts will be available for sale during morning registration. They are also available at the end of camp in the Nature Store. Shirts are typically $10/each.

Rainy Days: Camp will go on! If the weather is warm and the rain is light, we will be outside for at least a portion of the day. If we cannot be outdoors, activities will take place indoors. Please pack for the weather.

What to Expect at Camp: Facilities: Hunt Hill is located on 400 pristine acres in Washburn County. Connected to 4 glacial lakes, sitting on two bogs, a meadow, old growth forests and miles of rustic hiking trails our facility boasts a great location for outdoor exploration and fun for all ages! Our main camp features a library, shower house, dormitories, program learning center, barn dining hall, nature store and farmhouse office. We also have a private waterfront with swimming area and canoes. Slumber party campers stay in our cross dorm which is composed of 4 large wings with 6-12 beds each and a central lounge area with bathrooms. Boys and girls are housed in separate wings with appropriate supervision.

Staff: Hunt Hill prides itself on hiring an enthusiastic, mature and educated group of individuals to lead our summer camp programs. Educators have come from around the world and every summer member is trained, at a minimum, in first aid, CPR, AED and lifeguard certified. Under the guidance of the program director, educators develop and lead educational programs for youth of all ages.

Adventure Camp Schedule: Campers will spend the first day getting to know one another, building a sense of teamwork for the days ahead, swinging from a ropes course, rock climbing and waterfront time. Campers will be working together to accomplish various tasks and challenges as well as sharing in camp duties. Day Two will be spent on an overnight canoe and camping trip on the Namekagon River. Campers will get the opportunity to see wildlife, explore the river and set up camp at a remote campsite along the river. Campers will return to Hunt Hill Sunday morning to unpack and relax. Gear will be collected upon return and campers will get to prepare a presentation for family and friends on their Hunt Hill adventure!! A fun and active outdoor weekend for youth ages 11-15! *Please note on the medical form if your child has any dietary restrictions so that we can plan meals accordingly – vegetarian and no pork meal options can be accommodated with early notification.

Creating a Learning Community: Our Goal: To encourage youth to enjoy an active lifestyle, discover a respect for the natural world and to develop a deeper understanding of the sciences. This is accomplished through enthusiastic, mature and well trained staff guiding campers in exploration. Camper Behavior: To be successful, we expect our campers to follow the main rule of camp, which is respect: respect for educators, one another, plants, animals and the land. To ensure the enjoyment and safety of all campers, Hunt Hill reserves the right to dismiss campers in the unlikely event there are discipline issues. Parents or guardians will be contacted by phone to arrange child pick up. No refund will be granted to those unable to complete a camp.

End of Camp: Closing Program: The camp day ends with a brief camper presentation, for family, beginning at 2:00pm. Shows generally consist of a skit or song that highlights the activities from camp and last 2-5 minutes. Please be sure to arrive a few minutes before 2pm, so you do not miss the show!

Camper Sign Out: To ensure the safety of our campers, each camper MUST BE signed out. If someone not listed on your permission form will be picking up your camper, be sure to notify the registration desk that morning or call the Hunt Hill office. NO camper will be allowed to leave with someone who is not listed on their Transportation Permission form.

Nature Store: At the end camp our nature store will be open. Items include camp T-shirts, books, nature toys, jewelry and more. Prices generally range from $1 to $15. We accept cash and checks.

Lost and Found: Be sure to check the lost and found at the end of camp. Lost and found is located in a grey tub on the kitchenette table in the program learning center. It is also a good idea to label all camp items with your camper’s full name.

Hunt Hill Teen Adventure Camp Youth Behavioral Behavioral Agreement Ages 11-15

June 22-24, 2012

To ensure the enjoyment and safety of all campers, Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary reserves the right to dismiss campers in the unlikely event there are discipline issues. Dependent on the incident, campers generally receive three chances to improve behavior. The first incident of misbehavior will result in a warning. The second will result in the child being taken out of an activity. The third will result in our contacting the parents. At the fourth incident, the child will be removed from the rest of the campers and parents contacted to pick up the child. There will be no refund granted to those unable to complete the camp. Please review with your youth and sign the Behavior Policy portion of this form and return it to Hunt Hill with the medical information and transportation and photo release. If you will be unavailable during the camper’s time at Hunt Hill, please include the contact information of your assigned guardian. General Policies • Hunt Hill is a sanctuary, or a safe place for all living things. We require all campers to recognize this by being respectful to the plants, animals, educators and one another at all times. o Being respectful to our plants means observing them instead of picking them o Being respectful to our animals means observing them instead of scaring them o Being respectful to our educators means being a good listener and following directions o Being respectful to one another means helping one another, not putting others down • To ensure everyone’s safety, campers MUST always stay with their group and leaders. • We also expect campers to be respectful to the facilities o Being respectful means helping clean up our own messes and ‘leaving no trace’ o Campers should bring a snack and lunch for each day of camp. However, we ask that no additional sweets, candy, gum or pop be brought along. These things are not allowed in the dorms. We can’t wait to have you join us for a very fun overnight experience. Following these simple policies allows everyone to all have a fun and safe time!
