20th Annual Air Force Marathon

Marketing Director / 1SOFSS FSK This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the esteemed Air Force Marathon. The annual favorite will be held on September 17 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio and a 5K race is scheduled September 16 on the campus of Wright State University.

The Air Force Special Operations Force’s CV-22 “Osprey” is the featured plane of the 2016 Air Force Marathon. The aircraft chosen each year for the event typically flies over the marathon starting line before the race begins at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. “This is the first time we have featured a special operations plane,” Rob Aguiar, marathon director, said in a statement. This year also marks the tenth year of the MAJCOM Challenge. The Challenge winning team is awarded based on a point system that factors in both participation and performance in the full and half marathon events. This friendly challenge serves as an incentive for each MAJCOM to encourage participation in the Air Force’s own nationally- The Air Force Marathon is open to the public. Young Air Commando Wins National Photography Contest by SrA Jeff Parkinson

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- A young Air Commando from the youth center, here, won the 2015 Image Makers national photography contest organized by the Boys and Girls Club of America that was judged at the local, regional and national level.

Zayiah has been going to the Hurlburt Field Youth Center since she was five years-old and is able to take photos during events thanks to that partnership.

Then, around the house, she would take pictures of the furniture and herself.” Air Force youth centers partner with the B&GCA to provide similar high-quality programs and curriculums like that of the photography club,
