The Millennium Challenge Account Namibia (MCA-N) Compact, providing grant funding of USD304.5 million – from the US Government through the Millennium Challenge Corporation to the Government of Namibia entered into force on 16 September 2009. The 5-year Compact will help strengthen access to and quality of Namibia’s education and training sector, increase productivity of farm enterprises in communal rural areas and promote growth in Namibia’s tourism industry. MCA-N is recruiting for the following position to be filled by an ambitious and hard-working professional: MANAGER: ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL ASSESSMENTS (ESA) The incumbent will be accountable for the effective implementation of the Social Component of the Environmental and Social Assessments function in all three MCA Namibia (MCA-N) Projects of Agriculture, Education and Tourism. She/he reports directly to the Director: ESA Key performance areas are (but not limited to): • Overall accountable for the professional and effective implementation of the MCA-N Gender & Social Integration Strategy throughout the MCA-N Programme Implementation. • Accountable for ensuring that mitigation and harnessing measures required in considering all gender and social aspects are developed for each Project (and Project Activity) of the MCA Namibia (MCA-N) Programme and that there is adequate oversight to ensure that these measures are implemented during MCA-N activities construction or implementation. Education & Experience Requirements: • Bachelors Degree in social sciences or closely related field. Educational background in gender or gender related development studies will be advantageous. • At least five (5) years relevant experience in development projects or activities integrating social science principles (including gender). • Proven project/programme implementation and management skills, including an ability to manage a variety of tasks and demands, analyse information and report results • Experience in using statistical analysis software packages and databases • Strong computer skills with functional working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Oral and written fluency in English, including good report-writing skills Remuneration Package MCA-N offers a market-related, competitive remuneration package in relation to the general Namibian market.
