Namibia

multi-million dollar infrastructure development

The Millennium Challenge Account Namibia (MCA-N) today held a pre-bidding conference in Windhoek. The event was attended by representatives of 32 construction companies that are interested in bidding

for upcoming multi-million dollar infrastructure development projects funded by MCA-N. The upcoming MCA-N tenders comprise of the construction and upgrading of five (5) Stote Veterinary Offices (Eenhana, Outapi, Omuthiya, Epukiro, Okakarara), eight (8) Community Skills Development Centres (Ondangwa, Otjiwarongo, Gobabis, Swakopmund, Windhoek, Rundu, Tsumeb, Opuwo) as well as

fourteen (14) schools in the Kavango, Khomas, Otjozondjupa, Omaheke and Kunene regions.

The conference familiarized potential contractors with bidding procedures, forms, evaluation and qualification criteria. Much to the relief of the local industry, MCA-N has relaxed its guidelines to ease access to the bidding process. "For this procurement, bidders are not required to provide bid securities when submitting their bids, but

firm undertaking from a credible financial institution to issue a performance security, should a bidder be successful," said Johann Botha, MCA-N Director of Procurement.
