Media Release 10 August 2012 Australia’s system of compulsory superannuation savings, which has been in place since 1992, has contributed significantly to national saving. Australia’s pool of superannuation savings today stands at over $1 trillion, increasing investment potential and ensuring that reliance on foreign funds is lower than otherwise. On 1 July 2013 the Superannuation Guarantee (SG) rate increased to 9.25 % and another 0.25 percentage points will come into effect on 1 July 2014. Further increments of 0.5% will apply annually up to 2019‐20, when the SG rate will be set at 12 per cent. “It will significantly increase the future retirement incomes for many Australian workers. For example, a 30 year old earning average full‐time wages will have an additional $108,000 in retirement savings,” said Tammy Whitehead, Chairman of Women in Regional Development and Director of Whitehead Timber Sales and Glenara Transport. On 22 August 2012 Paula Gust, Financial Planner with Murray Nankivell & Associates will address a Women in Business & Regional Development (WiB&RD) network event in Naracoorte explaining the

importance of taking control of your financial affairs, superannuation and insurances. Networking is an essential skill for most business people to create and maintain business relationships. The ability to network effectively and develop relationships is the foundation for a successful business, career and/or professional relationship. WiB&RD has understood the importance of forging networks and currently has two active networks – in the Tatiara and Mount Gambier & Districts. “Since 2004 our networks have provided women across the region with great opportunities to build these valuable skills and learn more about our local businesses,” continues Tammy. “A key focus for our organisation is to encourage the development of further business networks across the region and with Paula’s presentation at Murray Nankivell in Naracoorte we are confident that interested women of the Naracoorte Lucindale area will want to be part of a regular network of women to share information, gain practical business advice and be inspired by the stories of many successful business owners,” says Tammy.

Paula has worked in the financial industry for many years. As a qualified Financial Planner, she provides advice on all aspects of finance and knows the value of a great financial plan for women. “I look forward to an informative and interactional session that will really get you thinking and with the increases to the Super Guarantee it is important women make well considered investment choices,” says Paula. Board members of WiB&RD will also be present and give some insights into their organisation. “I encourage women to come along at 6.00 pm Wednesday 22 August 2012 at Murray Nankivell, 172 Smith Street Naracoorte. I am sure you will find Paula entertaining and informative. Cost is $10 WiB&RD members and $15 non members and includes tea, coffee, refreshments and light supper.
