Media Release 9 July 2012 Networking is an essential skill for most business people to create and maintain business relationships. The ability to network effectively and develop relationships is the foundation for a successful business, career and/or professional relationship. Women in Business & Regional Development (WiB&RD) has understood the importance of forging networks and currently has two active networks – in the Tatiara and Mount Gambier & Districts. Since 2004 our networks have provided women across the region with great opportunities to build these valuable skills and learn more about our local businesses,” says Tammy Whitehead Chairman of Women in Business & Regional Development and Director of Whitehead Timber Sales and Glenara Transport. “A key focus for our organisation is to encourage the development of further business networks across the region and on 25 July 2012 the first network meeting in Millicent will be held. We are confident that interested women of the area will want to be part of a regular network of women to share information, gain practical business advice and be inspired by the stories of many successful business owners,” continues Tammy. Christine Agnew business owner at Mc Courts Garden Centre will open her nursery doors after hours for networking, delicious food and Amanti Coffee. Award winner of two years Best Small Garden Centre in South Australia, McCourts Garden Centre is housed in a 120 year old church and offers an eclectic mix of gifts, homewares, clothing and jewellery. Members of the Women in Business & Regional Development Mount Gambier & Districts Networks will also attend the function and give some insights into their network which has successfully run 10 networking events annually since 2009 with just a few willing volunteers. “Moria Neagle well known local identity will also talk about her fascinating life as educator, professional writer and poet,” continues Tammy.

“I encourage women to come along at 6.00 pm Wednesday 25 July 2012 at McCourts Garden Centre, 48 Davenport Street Millicent. I am sure you will find both Christine and Moira’s stories entertaining and inspiring. Cost is $15 WiB&RD members and $20 non members and includes delicious gourmet pizzas,” concludes Tammy. Please RSVP for this event to [email protected] by Friday 20 July 2012.
