May - Natl. Physical Fitness & Sports Month. Spring is a great time to get started participating in physical activities. Tips for Health in Spring Keep your body running at peak performance by checking your weight, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol levels. If it’s been a while consider hearing and vision checks as well. Put on Your Walking Shoes Walking in a park or forest is a way to connect with nature and if you join a walking or hiking group, it can be an easy way to meet new friends. Take an Exercise Class Our Silver Sneakers Classic class is a great place to start. You don’t have to be a silver sneakers member to participate in the class. Also consider Yoga, Pilates or Tai Chi, all of which can improve balance and flexibility decreasing your chances of falling. A water aerobics class is another fun way to increase physical fitness,

Especially if you have arthritis or chronic pain. Get Involved in a Sport Olivedale has many options available including chair volleyball, ping pong, and Bike Club. Lighten Up Your Diet Many healthy fruits and veggies come into season in the spring so replace those heavy winter meals. Cut down your chances of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and arthritis, by making diet improvements. Drink Lots of Water Some benefits of drinking water include increase in energy, relief of fatigue, promotes weight loss, flushes out toxins, improves skin complexion, and prevents muscle cramps. Drink your water! Dress for the Weather Spring weather is unpredictable at times. Dress in layers and be prepared for weather changes. Health is a State of Body. Wellness is a State of Being.
