THE MEETING WILL BE CONDUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT. THE FACILITY IS WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE AND HANDICAP PARKING IS AVAILABLE. REQUESTS FOR SIGN INTERPRETIVE SERVICES WILL BE AVAILABLE WITH AT LEAST 48 HOUR NOTICE PRIOR TO THE MEETING. TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THOSE SERVICES, PLEASE CALL ANNA LANE AT (903) 935-4465.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING MARCH 18, 2014

1. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER BY KEN POINDEXTER AT 4 PM 2. MINUTES FROM LAST MEETING WAS APPROVED 3. DISCUSSION A. JACK REDMON GAVE A REPORT ON THE SELLING OF THE OLD CHAMBER BUILDING. HE BELIEVED WE WOULD GET THE BILL PASSED THIS TIME AROUND. HE SUGGESTED WE BEGIN THE BIDDING @ $150,000.00. B. DOC HALLIDAY ASKED WHO OWNED THE BUILDING THE CITY OR THE LIBRARY. ANSWER, IT BELONGS TO THE LIBRARY BUT THE CITY IS IN CHARGE OF DISPOSING OF THE PROPERTY. C. JACK REDMON WILL HANDLE THE BUSINESS OF GETTING BUILDING SOLD. 4. OUR PRESENT LIBRARY IS 40 YEARS OLD AND IN NEED OF REPAIRS AND NEED TO UPDATE BATHROOMS, HANDY-CAP ZONES AND SO FORTH. ROOF NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. 5. WE MUST GO THROUGH THE CITY COMMISSIONERS TO GET APPROVAL BECAUSE WE ARE APPOINTED BY THEM. 6. WE DISCUSSED THE EMMA WALKER FUNDS DECIDING THAT SOME OF THE MONIES CAN BE USED FOR REPAIRS AND SO FORTH. A. DOC SUGGESTED WE RELY UPON THE CITY TO ADVISE WHAT WE CAN OR CANNOT DO WITH THE LIBRARY. B. HE ALSO SUGGESTED THAT WE ALLOT A MINIMUM OF 30 DAYS TO SEPARATE THE EMMA WALKER FUNDS FROM THE FUNDS FROM THE SALE OF THE BUILDING. C. STEVE SUGGESTED TO CYNTHIA KING TO DEVELOP A LIST OF THE LIBRARY USERS, MS. KING NOTED WE HAVE APPROXIMATELY 4, 688 PATRONS WITH LIBRARY CARDS UNDERSTANDING THAT NOT ALL OF THOSE REGISTERED USE THE FACILITY REGULARLY.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING MARCH 25, 2014 A SPECIAL MEETING WAS CALLED TO APPOINT KEN POINDEXTER TO REPRESENT THE LIBRARY BY GIVING A SHORT BUT PERTINENT SYNOPSIS OF HISTORY AND INTENTIONS THE LIBRARY ARE REGARDING THE REQUEST FOR A SPEEDY SALE OF HE PROPERTY. DOC ASKED ALL OF US TO ATTEND THE CITY COMMISSIONER MEETING ON THURSDAY NIGHT AND BRING MORE PEOPLE THAN JUST OURSELVES. MEETING WAS ADJOURNED AT 4:23 PM
