Parent Teacher Interviews

Wednesday, March 23rd and Thursday, March 24th from 6:00 – 9:00 Sign up sheet attached please return to school by March 10th.

No Classes – Friday, March 11th.

There will be no school as it is a Teacher Planning Day. No school, also, on Friday, March 25th. It is a day in lieu of interviews.

Reconciliation with Students St. Michael students will be going to St. Joseph for Lent. Grades 3 & 4 will be on Tuesday, March 22nd from 1:00 – 2:30. Grades 5 & 6 will be going Wednesday, March 23rd from 1:00 – 2:30. Grades 7 & 8 will be going Friday, March 24th from 1:00 – 2:30.

Grade 8 Farewell Pictures

The grade 8 farewell pictures will be held on March 16th in the morning.

Grade 8 Parent Planning Meeting

There will be a Grade 8 parent meeting on March 29th at 7:00 pm in the library to plan the Grade 8 Farewell celebration.

Report Cards

Report Cards will be going home on March 21st.

Yearbook Committee As you may know, St. Michael's Yearbook committee is working on the yearbooks. The cost has increased this year to $20.00 per yearbook. We will be sending out forms in early April.

Pancake Breakfast Just a reminder the order forms for the pancake breakfast are due Thursday, March 3rd if you are planning on attending. Remember to be environmental friendly by bringing your own plate and fork. Dress in Green and White for St. Patrick Day Thursday, March 17th.

Ash Wednesday – Service

St. Michael will be attending Ash Wednesday service at St. Joseph on Wednesday, March 9th 9:30. Unfortunately the grade 3’s and 4’s will be missing due to their swimming lessons.

Movie Night

Our SCC is hosting a movie night for St. Michael community on Friday, March 18th. Doors open at 6:00 and movies start at 6:30(Toy Story 3). Admission is $2 per person or $5 per family. There will be a concession with popcorn, chips, candy, water, juice and pop. This will be held in the gym. Bring a blanket and pillow to sit on and chairs will be set up for the parents.

Grade 5 Curling We had a great time at the Hillcrest Curling Rink. We learned the basics of the game and I can tell you we have a few budding Briar champs at our school. NOTE: Hillcrest does have a Junior program that may be of interest to some of our students. Thanks to everyone who came out to watch. . . and then had to help! We appreciate it. Band Information The elementary band students will travel to Regina on Wednesday, March 23rd, to participate in the Regina Optimist Band Festival. Grade 6 students need to be dropped off at St. Margaret's by 8:45 a.m. with their instrument/music and a bagged lunch (in black/white uniform). They will be returned to their schools after lunch. Grade 7 and 8 students will be picked up from their schools (dressed in black pants and blue band t-shirt) between 1:30 and 2 p.m. They will need money for supper. The 7/8's will return to Moose Jaw at 7 p.m. and can be picked up at the Town and Country mall. More details are at the band website! Blastball

Wednesday, March 2nd and Monday, March 7th our K – 2 students will be enjoying some instruction in Blastball.

Mission Fair Every year St. Michael School holds a Mission Fair to raise funds for a number of charities in a fun way. Our Mission Fair will be held the afternoon of Thursday, March 10th, and will run from 12:40 – 2:40 pm.

The fair is open to the families of our students, so join us in some fun as we raise funds to help others. We will need items for the White Elephant Sale, so start sorting through your treasures to donate. Also, remember that we have students with severe allergies, so please do not send chips, nuts, peanuts, or any products containing nut oil or sunflower oil for prizes. Some products that would work for food prizes are: pop, drink boxes, freezies, gum, small peanut/nut FREE Smarties, Kit Kat, Aero bars, Coffee Crisp bars, Mars bars, Nerds, Starburst Fruit Chews, Cherry Blasters, Fuzzy Peaches, Sour Patch Candies and Swedish Berries. Students will use tickets rather than cash to take part in the activities. They will be 20 tickets for $5.00. The tickets can be purchased the morning of the Fair and all afternoon in the office. Activities, food, games, etc. will each cost a certain number of tickets. ***The information in the brackets are for the class that is indicated on that line****

The activites are as follows: Mrs. Johnson ( Gr. 1 ) – White Elephant – Room 4 (any small toys) Mrs. Anuik (Gr. 1 ) – Musical Chairs – Room 5 (any small toys) Mrs. Niewenhuizen (Gr. 2 ) - Bowling – Gym – (please bring 2 or 3 chocolate bars for prizes) Mrs. Côté (Gr. 2/ 3 ) –Bean Bag Toss– Room 8 (stuffed toys cleaned) Mrs. Sawicki (Gr. 3) – Hockey Shoot – Room 11 (juice boxes) Mrs. Froehlich (Gr. 4 ) –Bingo – Room 7 (bingo prizes) Mrs. Olson - Fish Pond – Gym (mini toys- cars, stuffed animals, McDonalds, etc.) Ms. Martin – Freeze Dance –– Room 18 (coloring books) Mrs. Warren (Gr. 7/8 ) – Face Painting – Room 16 (students can either bring $3.00 to cover costs OR a tub of gummy candies OR 6 cans/bottles of juice.)

Telemiracle St. Michael is fundraising for Telemiracle for a loonie students can wear their hat or chew gum for the day. Janaya is dancing at telemiracle and will present our cheque. Good Luck Janaya.

Spelling Bee Congratulations to Megan in Gr. 7. She has qualified to compete and represent St. Michael at the Leader Post Southern Saskatchewan Regional Spelling Bee final!! She will be 1 of 2 students from Moose Jaw competing this Saturday in Regina against students throughout the province. GOOD LUCK MEGAN!!
