March 2017 Calendar of Events Baton Rouge Region Golden FIT (Functional Independence Training): Need help with your balance and strength? Ochsner Golden Opportunity is conducting a 12 week/twice a week fitness class to improve your core balance and strength, along with your bone health. This class is free, but you must be available to attend all classes. Classes will be held at Ochsner Plaza II, 4th floor, on Monday and Wednesday afternoons 12:30 – 1:30 beginning March 6th. Class is limited to 20 so register soon! Starting March 6 RSVP REQUIRED March 3 (Friday): BREAKFAST BUNCH: “Identity Theft, Identity Fraud, etc.” Presented by: Bryan Lee, Trooper 1st Class Trooper Lee will discuss the various types of identity theft and fraud; what are Identity Theft and Identity Fraud; what are the most common ways to commit Identity Theft or Fraud; what can someone do about Identity Theft and Fraud; what should someone do to avoid becoming a victim of Identity Theft. 9:30 am 11:00 am Hospital Classroom Snack Provided RSVP REQUIRED March 8 (Wednesday): GET GOING: “Louisiana State Police Crime Lab” 376 E Airport Arrival Time: 9:30 am Tour to begin at 10:00 am The tour is limited to 30 people. We will tour the State Police Crime Laboratory and learn the operations of the lab. The Crime Lab is a modern forensic sciences facility that provides services such as DNA analysis, fingerprint identification, chemical analysis of various types of evidence, and many more. After the tour, you have the option to eat at the LA State Police cafeteria. Lunch on your own. PLEASE SEE RULES ON THE BACK. RSVP REQUIRED March 13 (Monday): CULINARY RUN: Jasmine on the Bayou 6010 Jones Creek Rd We will meet at the restaurant to simply enjoy a great lunch and great company Arrival: 11:00 am RSVP REQUIRED March 16 (Thursday): Movie Review: “The Shack” AMC THEATER 16040 Hatter Drive Please pay at the Movie Theater GO members will meet at the theater at 9:30 am $5.00 per person- admission $4.00 per person – small drink & small popcorn & fruitie tootie snack. After the abduction and assumed death of Mackenzie Allen Phillip's youngest daughter, Missy, Mack receives a letter and has the suspicion it's from God asking him to return to The Shack where Missy may have been murdered. March 30 (Thursday): ROAD TRIP: “Hungarian Museum / Middendorf’s Restaurant & LIGO Observatory” $25.00 per Person LUNCH ON YOUR OWN – AN ENVELOPE WILL BE PASSED ON THE BUS FOR A DONATION TO THE HUNGARIAN MUSEUM Depart from Ochsner Plaza II: 8:00 am Return Time: 5:00 pm The first stop of the day will be at the Hungarian Museum in Albany to learn the history of the Settlement in 1900’s. We will then dine at Middendorf’s Restaurant with lunch on your own. After lunch, we will tour the LIGO Observatory. In 1916, Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity was published. Included in the bizarre picture that the famed physicist painted of the universe were the notions that energy and mass were equivalent, and that gravity was simply a warp in the “fabric” of space-time. Since then, there have been many successful experiments carried out to prove Einstein’s theory. For nearly a century however, scientists were unable to confirm General Relativity’s most elusive prediction: gravity waves. Until now…… RSVP REQUIRED

Louisiana State Police Crime Lab Tour Rules: Members of tour groups are advised of the following rules prior to arrival a. All tour group participants must stay together at all times. b. All tour group participants are prohibited from touching any lab items, including, but not limited to, evidence and equipment. c. No photography, videography, or recording devices of any kind (cameras, cellphones, etc.) are allowed to be used inside of the laboratory without the written permission of the Crime Lab Director. d. All cell phones or other audio/visual electronic devices are required to be turned to vibrate or off during the duration of the Crime Lab tour. e. When tour group participants arrive at the lab, please ensure that all members congregate initially in the middle of the front hallway (between the two sets of front double doors) to allow un-obstructed access to the Lab’s Evidence Unit, the front office, and the Lab - for evidence submitters, mail deliverers, lab staff, etc., - until the tour begins.
