March 2016 Calendar of Events Baton Rouge Region March 3 (Thursday): MOVIE REVIEW: “Risen” or “Eddie the Eagle” AMC Theater 16040 Hatteras Avenue GO members will meet at the theater at 9:30am $5.00 per person - admission $4.00 per person – small drink, small popcorn & fruitie tootie snack. Risen: Clavius, a powerful Roman Centurion, is charged by Pontius Pilate to investigate the rumors of a risen Jewish messiah and to locate the missing body of Yeshua (Jesus of Nazareth) in order to quell an imminent uprising in Jerusalem during the first 40 days following Christ's resurrection. Eddie the Eagle: Michael Edwards (born 5 December 1963), better known as Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, is a British skier who in 1988 became the first competitor to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping. At the time, he was the British ski jumping record holder (a record later broken by others), the world number nine in amateur speed skiing, (106.8 mph (171.9 km/h)) and the stunt jumping world record holder (10 cars/6 buses). Finishing last in the 70m and 90m events, he became famous as an example of an underdog or "heroic failure", and of perseverance and achievement without funding.

$49.00 per Person (includes transportation and lunch) --- Please call with menu choice Depart from Ochsner Plaza II: 7:30 am Return Time: 5:00 pm The Louisiana State Penitentiary (LSP, also known as Angola, and nicknamed the "Alcatraz of the South" and "The Farm" is the largest maximum security prison in the United States with 5,000 offenders and 1,800 staff. It is located on an 18,000-acre property. The prison was built on the grounds of an old plantation and still operates a working farm. The Museum showcases the history of Angola Prison. The museum includes displays of guard equipment, confiscated contraband items from prisoners and written accounts from guards and prisoners alike. We will tour the prison, death row and the state execution chamber. We will have lunch at the Magnolia Restaurant in St. Francisville. See the back for the menu choices and dress code restrictions. EVERYONE MUST HAVE A FORM OF IDENTIFICATION TO ENTER THE PRISON. NOTE: Sam’s Club has renewed the contract with GO. You will receive the $10.00 gift card to be redeemed either at Sam’s or Walmart when you sign up as a new client with Sam’s Club or renew your present membership. Please call the GO office for instructions on how to get your gift card. For the members living in and around the Denham Springs area, a new policy for bus trips has been incorporated. We will pick up at the Piccadilly Cafeteria in Denham Springs, if we are traveling in that direction for the road trip. You will need to inform the GO office that you want to be picked up at that location.
